TASK 10: BLOG - COMPLETE FLOLKLORE STORY

'HOW KIULU GOT ITS NAME'
SYNOPSIS
 Kiulu in the district of Tuaran got it name from a small river called 'Kiulu'. In the old days , travelers from up river usually stop at this river to have their lunch before continuing their journey. Firstly because the small river provided them with drinking water and secondly , growing on both sides of the riverbanks is a kind of bamboo locally known as 'Tulu'. The same bamboo is used to make drinking glasses called 'Suki'. There were no name for the rive that have 'Tulu' or 'Ki tulu' and later it was just plain 'Kiulu'.

SCRIP/DIALOGUE
Narrator: Long time ago, four students who are travel to the village, they are walking along the forest to  find a place to rest. On the journey, they found an endless river. They fell tired, so they decided to stop at the river side to have their lunch before continuing their journey.

Travelers 1: I’m tired already, why don’t we take a rest at the sides of the river?
Travelers 2: sure, we can have our lunch there.
Travelers 3: but we have a problem here, we didn’t bring water either glasses for drinks, its so hot and I’m fell so thirsty.
Travelers 2: let just rest there and eat while we think how to get drinks.

Narrator: So students eat their lunch and have a rest. Suddenly, one of the student suggest them to drinks the water from the river and take some to provided them with drinking water but they don’t have glasses to fill with the river water or even cutter to chop down the bamboo.

Villagers (father): what are all doing here?
Travelers 4: we are thirsty uncle; we want to drink the water from the river. But we don’t have any glasses or bottle to fill it.
Villagers (father): oo… I see… there’s a bamboo at the sides of the riverbanks. You can chop it to make a glass. Do you have any cutter?
Travelers 3: no uncle, we don’t have it. Do you have it?
Villagers (father): yes, I got it. Easter, take the cutter please.
Villagers (daughter): here you are father.

Narrator: Luckily, at the sides of the riverbanks is a kind of bamboo locally known as “Tulu”. So they chop down the bamboo then fill it with water. The same bamboo also used to make drinking glasses known as “Suki”. There were no name for the river that has “Tulu” or “Ki tulu” and later it was just plain “Kiulu”.

Villagers (father): any, way what you girls looking for here actually?
Travelers 1: actually, we are from Jesselton City Student. We are coming here because we was ordered to do a research about the unnamed river in this village.
Travelers 2: yes, we are doing this to complete our final project. We hoping that you can spend your time to help us for this research because we really don’t know anything about this place
Villagers (father): sure, I do. Come on, let’s go to my house. You all may take a rest there then. I have some information that maybe could help.

Narrator: The old man brings all the travelers to his home. He promises that he can give some information to help the student to complete their assignment.

Villagers (father): daughter.., please serve them a coffee.
Villagers (daughter): alright father.
Travelers 1: uncle, can we know how the river named and what are the rivers named now?
Villagers (daughter): here you are. Serve yourself.
Villagers (father): actually…
Travelers 1: that was an interesting story, uncle.
Travelers 4: yeah, it really attracted me. I never heard this kind of story before. Even own village, I don’t know how it got its name.
Travelers 3: so, uncle is that the story how Kiulu got its name?
Villagers (father): exactly children.

Narrator: Finally, the big question mark that going around the student was answered and solved. They feel very happy because they have done their assignment very good. In addition, they also got a new experience that other student could ever did.

TASK 9: BLOG - SUMMARIZE

TASK 8: BLOG - CAST AWAY

Tom Hanks as Chuck Noland is a Fed-Ex manager who for his accuracy and time is everything for him. He has a girlfriend, Kelly, with whom he felt great love and family she is difficult to see. When working to bother him on Christmas Eve, Chuck made ​​a quick gift exchange in the car and said goodbye to Kelly. When Chuck finally sees the opportunity, he shall make a raft for ocean and fortunately he mngharungi a ship through his raft. Upon receipt of bittersweet welcome-back, Chuck finds Kelly has married another man and had a son. Earlier the objective of life is the time and work. but after four years he was stranded on the island, did he know that in this life we have many paths for us through and face all hard.

TASK 7: BLOG - NARRATIVE PARAGRAPH WRITING: UNFORGETTABLE CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

My childhood memories that I can't forget is when I was six years old my parents had a birthday party for me and my siblings simultaneously. At the time, I am very happy because I could jointly celebrate my birthday with my brother and sister. My mother has provided much food for the birthday party. And for the cake was, my mother and my father has set up four cakes for us four siblings. Although my cake not as big as my eldest brother cake, but I don't care because what matters to me is that I can get together with family celebrating my birthday. On the night of the birthday party, the rain suddenly came down with very heavy. Even though only a few people come, we still continue the ceremony. Only those who live nearby will be able to attend the birthday party. All sorts of things we do like to take pictures for memories, eat cake, and others. The birthday party lasted until midnight, after the end of the birthday party, my family and I was tired and we slept after the update. That night I felt very happy and sleeping soundly. For me, I just want to have fun with my family and my friends on my birthday.

TASK 6: BLOG - COMMON MISTAKES THAT ALWAYS DO IN WRITING

The most common mistake and I always do when I write in the essay is difficult to find the correct use of grammar and usage of terms and language that is often repeated. This difficulty becomes apparent when I write essays. Among the types of problems I had when writing my assignments, I often forget the meaning of the word in English. This makes me slow and this will cause me little time to complete tasks assigned to me. Way to solve my problem I was trying to understand and remember the purpose of this english word and start training regularly to familiarize myself with the word english. In addition, I also use english films to make me easy to understand the use of the word that I use in my essay later.

TASK 5: BLOG - WRITE A PARAGRAPH ABOUT A TOPIC ON POLLUTION.

Pollution is one of the most common problems faced at present. This happens when the human or animal waste left without cleaning or removing the proper place. Examples of waste that can pollute the toxic waste, oil processing plants, rubbish and so on. problems or issues such as this will harm us in any population on earth will get sick or cause pollution to the environment. If the problem persists and no party wants to solve, and responsible, it will cause more pollution will occur as pollution on plants, wildlife, and others. Therefore, all parties should play their role and work together to overcome this pollution and protect the earth is responsible for freeing us from any contamination

TASK 4: BLOG - DESCRIBE THE STAGE OF WRITING PROCESS. PROVIDE EXAMPLE OF THE TOPIC, SUPPORTING, AND CONCLUDING SENTENCES

In writing process there three stage that we must following. It is helps us to  make you essay or paragraph easy to read and  more organize and easy to read and understand. Firstly you must had topic sentences as introduction to you story to start your essay. Must have supporting details at less three or four point to support your story and the last is you must concluding sentences to end of you story as you conclusion, this is how to make paragraph using the stages of writing process.

My mother's cooking is very tasty and that is my favourite food.

After your finish make this three stage, you must completed your paragraph and your paragraph will easy to read by your lecturer or your friend

TASK 3: BLOG - PROCESS WRITING

Set an ideas

·        - In this stage, ideas can be listed to facilitate the process of this writing. Intend that all ideas can be arranged in order of being needed and suitability of these ideas.

Plan the writing

·        - We must have a plan before start writing process like diagram, organize note cards by topic, identify pros and etc. It is for easy to start writing and make a good write.

Write 1^st draft

·        - In these stages you will start the draft. in this draft you can write or use the ideas or points that have been listed in its own needs at the same time make the draft look attractive. in this draft all offense is not bruised right weight because this is the first draft to describe a good storyline.

Revise

·        - you need to revise as this will help you to insert or focus on points or ideas that you want later.

Edit

·        - To obtain satisfactory results and you should make edit your writing. Aims to lay out and grammatically correct sentences in your writing.

Start writing

·        - For this stage you must look your 1^st draft, rewrite it and write the topic. When you done you writing, you can submit your assignment to you lecturer.

TASK 1: BLOG - WHAT IS LOVE TO YOU?

Love. Everyone wants it, few know how to find it -- and know it's real if they do. We aren't taught to want love, it's a natural instinct, and from the moment we are born, if we don't get it, we spend an enormous amount of time in our lives searching for it. love just as simple word but had a many meaning to me. love to our creator, love to our family, love our friend, animal and etc. love makes us appreciate what is before us, learn to love with a sincere heart. the love of creator is to obey all the orders to us. love for his family is to love, help, and respond to all services provided by the parents and our siblings. love for fellow human beings is that we feel happy and comfortable with him and when we can be ourselves, do not need make up, do not need luxury clothing at her and she always felt we were the only people that he loved. Love is love, sacrifice, loyalty, understanding, mutual need to require and to keep up. Love is friendship and family. therefore, it is up to us how we have and appreciate.

TASK 10 – BLOG: You are about to complete your mission in writing journals in blog. Do you learn anything while doing these tasks? Explain your difficulties in completing these tasks and include your example.

At the time to complete the work this blog, many of which I have learned and the knowledge that I can know. Also in time, I have learned to work hard to complete my blog. Although difficult, but it was worth it because I can learn in more detail later, the active and passive voice, vocabulary, and pronounstation. I also would like to thank my friends for helping me to understand the questions that I can complete my task easier. During the same period, I can understand some of the lessons in the story that I watch during the class. And after that I could finish my blog with a simple job because I already know a bit about the film. Moreover, when preparing this blog I can improve my speaking skills and also help me to continue to work for my English level again.

The island’s claim to fame is none other than being the first ever ‘secret’ location for the hit reality series, ‘Survivor’.  Beside, many refer to Pulau Tiga as Survivor Island.  Located just 10km off shore on the West Coast of Sabah, you can enjoy a day trip to the island but many recommend spending at least a night or two. The island has two resorts namely Pulau Tiga Resort and Borneo Survivor Resort (see contact details). There’s plenty to see and do here and spend the sunny days swimming or snorkeling in its surrounding clear waters or go kayaking. TASK 7 – BLOG: Discuss on one of these issue – violence, racism & corruption. How bad will it affect our country? What will you suggest to overcome this issue?

Racism is generally understood as either belief that different racial groups are characterized by intrinsic characteristics or abilities and that some such groups are therefore naturally superior to others or as practices that discriminate against members of particular racial groups, for example by perpetuating unequal access to resources between groups. "Racism" and "racial discrimination" are often used to describe discrimination on an ethnic or cultural basis, independent of whether these differences are described as racial. According to the United Nations conventions, there is no distinction between the terms racial discrimination and ethnicity discrimination. Racism can affect our country so bad like the tragedy of 13th May where incidents of violent happen between Malay ethnic and Chinese community. It has said that Chinese have been ripping off the wealth of the country and the Malay ethnicity only been working in the villages doing rural work. So to prevent the event 13 may not happen again, I suggest that we need tolerance in order to everyone sees what is the best for this country. We must respect and understand about other race. Make friend from other race because we not different with people from other race.  Also don’t shy and arrogant to learn cultures from other race.

TASK 6 – BLOG: Do you think we have been living in unity as 1 Malaysia? Express your opinions with specific example.

No, because in my opinions we are not really living in unity as 1 Malaysia. I believe that there is in Malaysia but not everyone general practice in they routine life. We do not unite and work together as a Malaysia. I think that to live in unity as one Malaysia, we must remain united and jointly develop our country. To live unity as 1 Malaysia, it only can achieve with time, time will make we see about what we common and what make we different. Then we will understand and make we stronger and we will unite. Standing together with one voice over certain issues can be defined as unity.  It is a very important element in ensuring harmonious relationship among each other.  All in all, how good and pleasant it is when we, Malaysian, live together in unity.

Yes, I want to success in my life and achieve my goal in my life. My goal is I want to success in complete the study within the field of medical laboratory technology diploma with my family proud result. After that, I would like to continue my studies to degree level. To achieve my ambition, I will always strive to succeed. I will study hard to improve my weaknesses. I will also receive all the advice given by my lecturers and use it in my daily life. so far I am still struggling and trying to achieve my ambition. For that I will continue my studies in the field of medical laboratory technology.

TASK 4 – BLOG: Based on movie that you have watched in the class, retell the story in your way and if you were the main character, what would you do if you were experiencing the same situation?

 Summary

This film tells the story of a man named Chris Gardner and his son are forced to live in poverty. He lost the house and ran out of money. His wife left him and his son ran away because his wife is not willing to live in hardship. After that, he was forced to sell 'Bone Density Scanners' to get the money. Sales taps to fail, he has tried his luck to work as a stockbroker. But before he managed to get it, he needs to follow training for 6 months same as other employees. After 6 months, Chris thought he was not blowing, but managed to get jobs at the company's chief told him that he was able to get the job. Because feeling overjoyed and overwhelmed Chris cannot hold he tears. He then ran to he son and tells him all the trouble they go through will end soon.

 - The only person that can ever truly make you happy is yourself. Stop depending on   everyone else.

- people lie, stuff happens. Don’t take it too personally.                            

 - Smiling is the ultimate anti-depressant. Smile and laugh out loud, it doesn't look stupid.

 -  The world is never just black and white, right or wrong, one way or another. Try and see things from as many points of view as possible.                                                                                    

 - Step outside your comfort zone- it’s when you’ll really feel alive.  

   

  3. If you Chris Gardner, what would you do to a achieve your American dream?   

If I as a Chris Gardner,  I will really work hard on my work and will give 100% on my work. Besides,  I will not easily give up in my life because I know if I lose, I will get anything in my life. Because to achieve my american dream I have to strong and never thing negatives on my work and in my life.

4. What does ‘happyness’ mean in this movie?

Happyness mean in this movie is when we do something in our life, we must think positive and never give up in life and the end we will get something that more valuable  and meaningful in our life.

5. What is/are your personal opinion(s) about this movie?

In my personal opinion about this movie is I’m got many lesson in this movie.  Like  the person that will happy you is yourself so don’t  always depending on other people. Besides, we must think positive about something and always smile although we have problem. I think this movie very interesting and have many lesson that we will get in this movie. From that, we can use that lesson in our life.

A song that I chose is the song 'count on me' sung by Bruno Mars. Why I chose that song because that song made me realize the meaning of friendship in my life. I love that song because the song tells us, about as a good friend we must help our friend in cart and easily. In our lives, sometimes we will face difficulties in life. At that time, we will find our own close friend because our family is away. And the close family we have is our friend. We will rely on them to solve our problems. Same as with us, we will try to jointly solve our friend problem. So in our lives, we must help each of us together with our friends.

TASK 2 – BLOG: Find one Idol that you admire and describe his/her physical attributes and characteristic by using adjectives. Make sure you have more than 5 adjectives and underline them.

My idol was Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The reason why i chose Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad because he is a visionary in the planning of a program. Besides, he  was also a fair leader to address a problem. He would look into these things carefully before making any decisions. Next, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is a leader who cares for the people. He would go to see and hear the problem faced by the people. Moreover, he was a leader who is devoted to family and people. For example, tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad very loves child. Finally, he was a diligent in doing something.

TASK 1- Blog: Identify your problem and Difficulties in Speaking English and Explain on How are going to improve your English proficiency

   My problem is I find it difficult to speak in English. For example, if I asked about anything in English language, I understand the purpose of these questions, but I find it hard to provide answer in English language. Further, I find it hard to communicate well in English language. I was slow to find an appropriate sentence and I had to compile the first verses to be converted to English language. In addition, I find it hard to explain things to others in the English language. How can I improve my English proficiency training is that I will always speak in English to improve my English language skills. Next, I will always refer to the dictionary or search the Internet for the purpose of a word in the English language. Finally, I would ask for guidance with lecturer or with my friends, pure and good in English language so that I can improve my English language.
